About Searchlight Property

Ian Macintosh is the Principal and founder of Searchlight Property.  Ian has a passion for residential real estate which began over 20 years ago, taking a close interest in homes listed for sale in Sydney’s upper north shore and eastern suburbs.

A passion for real estate and extensive experience in international financial markets
are the foundation for Searchlight Property.

 

After completing a Bachelor of Economics degree at Sydney University, Ian worked with KPMG in Sydney and qualified as a Chartered Accountant before joining Macquarie Bank’s Risk Management Group.

Ian’s career was boosted when he was recruited to JP Morgan’s London operations as a Vice President.  Based in London, Ian spent five years on a variety of assignments in New York, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Paris and Milan, including the merger of JP Morgan with Chase.

After recommencing with Macquarie Bank in London, Ian was transferred back to Sydney with the Equity Markets Group, responsible for project management and new product development.

With a desire to follow his underlying passion for real estate, Ian successfully completed a Masters of Commerce in Real Estate Investment and transferred to Macquarie’s Real Estate Group as an Associate Director.  

In the Real Estate Group, Ian was responsible for project managing the establishment of a significant new unlisted real estate investment fund and the successful cross-border acquisition of commercial office buildings in Berlin, Tokyo, Milan and Frankfurt, valued at over $500million, coordinating experts in property due diligence, legal, regulatory, tax, and finance.

With a desire to bring this world-class experience to Australia’s residential market,
Ian established Searchlight Property as a boutique, client-focused buyer’s agency.

In addition to his extensive international real estate work experience, Ian has successfully bought and sold real estate on his own and his family’s account in Sydney’s Lower North Shore, Upper North Shore, London and Sydney City.

Ian is married, with two young boys and currently lives on Sydney’s north shore.
